RBP: Migration of Jira and Confluence from server to cloud

We optimized the ITSM processes of the health insurance company RBP and on that occasion we
managed to take them straight to the Atlassian Cloud. In addition, we managed to optimize the
license mix as well.

CLIENT

We were approached by the IT Projects Department at RBP, the largest regional employee health insurance company in the Czech Republic, who wanted to learn how to use their Atlassian server tools to get the most out of them. They wanted to manage Atlassian products more efficiently (without the need for infrastructure management), and at the same time they needed to optimize their ITSM processes.

SOLUTION

Together, we agreed that it would be best – given the planned end of support for Atlassian server solutions – to set the stage for transferring the  tools to the Atlassian Cloud right away. This allowed us to start building the structures from scratch on the new cloud instance, to which we then
migrated the server instance.

We started the project by optimizing the IT development process and implementing it on the new target environment in the Atlassian Cloud, followed by setting up user management. Only after that came the test migration. Because the process of merging existing data from the original server
solution and the new cloud setup had to be fine-tuned along with the changes in user management, the test migration had to be repeated several times. Finally, we performed a production migration of the data to the prepared cloud solution.
